Hiking Tasmania: Wineglass Bay & Hazards Beach Circuit

Tasmania, hikers paradise.

When we nabbed cheap flights to Tassie, squeezing a multi-day hike into our 5 day trip was high on the agenda. Tasmania hosts a number of amazing trails, so how to choose?

Wineglass Bay, wine not?

With limited time on our hands, we were after the most bang for our buck. When I conjure up images of Tasmania in my head, I think of the picture-perfect Wineglass Bay. And so the Wineglass Bay and Hazards Beach loop was an easy choice for us. While most people tackle the trail as a day walk, by taking the longer route we enjoyed the camping spots and pristine beaches to ourselves.

Getting there.

Located less than 3 hours drive from Hobart and 2.5 hours from Launceston, Freycinet National Park is a mountainous peninsula offering spectacular panoramic views.

What to pack.

For any multi-day hikes, every gram counts. We've spent a lot of time putting together our lightweight, high-tech camping kit so we love any chance to put it to the test. Fresh water on the track is not guaranteed, so carry plenty of water with you. Stop in at the info centre in the park first, to check conditions on the trail and have all your questions answered.
