We do not remember days, we remember moments
— Cesare Pavese
Having journeyed through the Alps several times with our beloved van, it was well overdue that we get out and do a hike. Blessed with some amazing sunny weather and our Aussie local we crossed the border from Konstanz and took the trail up Säntis. During our 6 month stint exploring Europe by van we had plenty of opportunities to be spontaneous. Visiting Bosnia was one of the most rewarding detours we could have made and a real highlight of our trip. The Skakavac waterfall is one of countless things to do while staying in the beautiful Sarajevo.
When in Como... contact Pascal the king of canyons (and author of all of the guide books). With over 20 years of experience in the industry, he took us on an intense 6 hour extreme mission through Bodengo 3. There were huge jumps and slides from the get go... Talk about an adrenaline overload. Dan was truly in his element. #hectic #bodengo3 #canyoning #como #italy #gopro
Location: Railay, Thailand. Cut off from the world by its sheer limestone cliffs, Railay boasts some of the best rock-climbing in the world. Make yourself at home on Phra Nang Beach truly and enjoy delicious street food served straight from the long boats. Speak with the locals who can point the way to the most amazing cave at the end of the beach. After scrambling through dark caverns and scaling rickety bamboo ladders be rewarded with a view over West Railay that simply takes your breath away.
Location: Royal National Park. Easter long weekender to Uloola falls in Sydney's Royal National Park. Start your hike at the Heathcote Railway Station and be rewarded with a swim at the gorgeous pools an hour into your hike. Continue on another 2.5km to the campgrounds where you will fall asleep listening to the sounds of the falls.
Location: Phi Phi Islands, Thailand. Often in life expectations don't quite live up to reality. And so it was with trepidation that we visited a place, long on my bucket list. Maya Bay, with its crystal clear warm waters and white sands. Postcard perfection. The true moment of magic was swimming amongst sparkling clouds of plankton...difficult to capture on camera. "And me, I still believe in paradise...". Experience The beach without the crowds by booking onto the Maya Bay Sleepaboard.
Location: Freycinet national Park. The Hazard Beach Circuit track will have you hugging gorgeous cliffs and trekking across soft white sands. Camp overnight at the famous Wineglass Bay and be rewarded with a picturesque private beach. Further north, take time out to indulge in the quiet serenity of Liffey falls.
Location: Best kept a secret by the locals. Started the new year off with a 7 hour return hike up an incredible waterfall with a great bunch of old friends. This trek is accessed via a private property in the Mid North Coast of Australia and is kept very hush hush by the locals.
Location: England, Switzerland, Turkey, Greece, Italy, France. We managed to cram a bunch of countries and some mind blowing experiences into a 5 week trip around Europe. Old friendships were rekindled, bucket lists were ticked and kilos of cheese were consumed. Don’t blink or you will miss it...
